Care Guide

• Light: Bright, indirect light. These dramatic plants thrive with plenty of light — avoid direct sun which can scorch the leaves, but too little light leads to drooping, slow growth, and smaller leaves.
• Water: Water when the top inch or two of soil is dry. Consistent moisture is key — Alocasias don't like to fully dry out, but soggy soil causes root rot. Reduce watering significantly in winter.
• Humidity: High humidity (60%+) is strongly preferred. A humidifier is highly recommended — dry air leads to crispy leaf edges and browning tips.
• Temperature: Thrives between 65–85°F (18–29°C). Sensitive to cold — keep away from drafts and temps below 60°F.
• Soil: Well-draining, airy mix — potting soil with perlite and a little orchid bark works well.
• Fertilizer: Feed every 2 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce or stop in fall/winter.
• Growth Habit: Distinctly upright and architectural — sends up bold, dramatic leaves on tall stems. Can grow very large given the right conditions — a true statement plant!
• Dormancy: May drop leaves in winter — don't panic! Keep the soil slightly moist and it will bounce back vigorously in spring.
• Repotting: Every 1–2 years in spring when rootbound.
